NAB Barossa Gourmet Weekend 2010

Saturday 21 - Sunday 22 August 2010

A fabulous weekend was had by all - (including ourselves!) at one of the best Barossa Gourmet weekends yet.

We were a part of The Magnificent 7 - Wine Guns from the West team. The other 6 wineries were Tscharke Wines, David Franz, Diggers Bluff, Jamabro, Russell Wines and Soul Growers. All of our wines originate from vineyards in the Marananga, Greenock & Seppeltsfield region in the western Barossa.

A Shiraz terroir table with a bucket of dirt from each vineyard and the Shiraz made from the grapes produced on that patch of dirt was a highlight for many, especially those mad about their Shiraz!

The fabulous Dave Lehmann made some wicked & cheeky WANTED posters of each wine producer and the cowboy theme was fun. The venue was the South Australia Company Store at Angaston and the food was brilliant. Our wines were matched to the foods offered - the gerneral consensus was that the lamb shanks & mash took some beating!

If you have never been to a Barossa Gourmet weekend, watch out for dates next August.

Tasting Australia Feast for the Senses

Saturday 1 - Sunday 2 May 2010

We have just had the most amazing weekend at Elder Park on the banks of the River Torrens in Adelaide. The fun bit was sharing the Barossa tent with 8 other Barossa wineries - Pindarie, Bethany, Tscharke, Binder, Thorn-Clarke, Mad Dog, Whistler and Gomersal. This is what we love about this industry and the Barossa - such great people to work & play with! The Sunday crowd in particular was fantastic and we gained many new Milhinch Seize the Day fans. We are still recovering 2 days later.....!

Seize the Day at Southern Ocean Lodge

We haven't got a photo of this, just the story. Our good friends Martin and Sally Pfeiffer, owners of Barossa's Whistler Wines recently spent two glorious days at South Australia's amazing Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island. As a special surprise for Sally, Martin whisked her away from cellar door with 20 minutes to pack her bag prior to a helicopter dropping in to the winery and taking them to the Lodge. They rang us the next day to describe the magnificent panoramic views they were enjoying from the Lodge's dining room as they indulged in a Seize the Day Rosé. We think that's a pretty good endorsement! ....and Peter and the other blokes in the Barossa have a hard act to follow in the surprise stakes!

Our Shiraz at Edeowie Station!

The best photo of '09 most definitely goes to Dean Lewis, a Seize the Day fan, for this fabulous picture of our Shiraz taken at Edeowie Station in South Australia's beautiful Flinders Ranges. We hope they enjoyed it with a magnificent piece of beef cooked under the stars over the campfire! Thank you Dean for sending us this amazing photo.

Wine Garage Dinner in Singapore

On April 29th 2009 Wine Garage in Singapore held a dinner featuring Milhinch Wines. We travelled to Singapore to attend the dinner. Wine Garage is located at Riverside Point on the Singapore River, a beautiful and picturesque location. They have over 500 new and old world wines on their wine list and we are privileged to have all three of our wines included on this list!

Another standout feature of Wine Garage is their staff. They are all passionate about wine and ensure guests at the restaurant receive the highest level of service. But above all, whilst being extremely professional, they are friendly and warm. Bala, the Sommelier and Nareen, the Floor Manager will ensure a great food and wine match and dazzle you with their cheerful personalities and smiles.

Make sure you tell them you read about Wine Garage on the Milhinch Wines website! We highly recommend a visit to Wine Garage as a "must do" if you are in Singapore!

Wine Garage visits Seppeltsfield

During vintage 2009 we had the pleasure of hosting Bala, the sommelier at Wine Garage in Singapore and Treys Ledrido, Corporate Beverage Manager, during their visit to the Barossa Valley. We were able to share with them our grape growing and wine making philosophies, not to mention our passion for producing classic Barossa wines!

It was a wonderful opportunity to share what we do in the vineyard at the very start of the wine making process. Consumers at Wine Garage in Singapore will now be able to hear first hand from Bala about not only how the grapes are grown but how much of our soul goes into our wine!

Our Wine in Singapore

Over the 2009 New Year holiday we were delighted to be visited by Dirk and Corinne from Singapore. They have sent us this great photo of themselves enjoying our Seize the Day Rosé on their balcony in Singapore - what an awesome view - and a great spot to seize the day!

Tour Down Under 2009

On 23 January 2009, over 7,500 riders in yellow jerseys passed within 200 metres of our vineyard. They were participating in the Mutual Community Challenge Tour which preceeded the main Stage Four Burnside to Angaston Tour Down Under race. Most of these riders had ridden the 143km course from Adelaide!

At 2.20pm the main race passed with Lance Armstrong in the pelloton. This was a huge moment for us, given the influence Lance's story has had on our journey to produce wine. Peter was there to spur him on with our new banner!

Barossa Gourmet Weekend 2008

Held in August each year is the Barossa Gourmet weekend. Participating Barossa wineries team with restaurants and musicians to provide two days of great food, wine and music.

In 2008, Milhinch Seize the Day Wines were a part of the Barossa Small Winemakers group at Chateau Tanunda. Music was by Shakin' the Blues and the wines were a perfect match with the foods on offer. Our Rosé and the Salt & Pepper squid from Rendezvous House was a combination to die for!

It was great to meet current Seize the Day wine supporters as well as introduce our wines to new fans!
